The Qixianling Global Tropical Fruit Expo Center (hereinafter referred to as the "Fruit Expo Center") has a planned area of approximately 30000 acres and is developed in three phases with a total investment of 3.4 billion yuan. The planned area of Phase I is 1053 acres, and as of now, the construction task of 246 acres of the core area of Phase I has been basically completed, transforming the original Baoting Botanical Garden into a comprehensive cultural and tourism destination that integrates science popularization, scientific research, production, and sightseeing; The second phase has a planned area of approximately 4000 acres, serving as a demonstration area for introduction and planting, as well as supporting tourism facilities; The planned area of the third phase is about 26000 mu, which is an expansion area for promoting planting.
The Guobo Center preserves mother trees such as durian, rambutan, and mangosteen introduced from the late 1950s to the early 1960s, as well as a series of rare tropical fruit trees, such as Annona, Star Apple, Chocolate Pudding Fruit, Brazilian Cherry, Fragrant Fruit (also known as Ice Cream Fruit), Egg Yolk Fruit, Mommy Fruit, Garbago, Avocado, etc. At present, in the core area of the first phase, a total of 164 varieties of tropical fruit trees of the same latitude, belonging to 25 families, 49 genera, and 72 species, have been collected and protected. In addition, economic forest and grass plants belonging to 43 families, 105 genera, and 126 species were collected and protected. In the future, the Fruit Expo Center will continue to strengthen the introduction of fruit trees from the same latitude, and build it into a true "aggregator of fruit categories" and "kingdom of fruits".
