It is one of the precious trees in our garden. This mother tree was introduced from Malaysia in 1958 and is currently 65 years old. It is the oldest durian tree in China. In its 65 year lifespan, the tree has survived more than 150 typhoons and survived multiple extreme low temperatures. Now the height of the tree has exceeded 10 meters and it cannot self pollinate, and it has not borne fruit for many years. In 2022, researchers conducted artificial pollination to preserve flowers and fruits, and ultimately produced over 40 fruits with quality not inferior to varieties such as Maoshanwang and Blackthorn. They are excellent parents for our variety breeding. Pomegranate is a cross pollinating plant, but there are very few natural pollinators that require artificial pollination to bear fruit normally. The growth of pomegranate trees is slow, and it usually takes more than 7 years to bloom after planting
Fruiting, entering the peak production period in the 10th year, and lasting for several decades. Pomegranate is suitable for growing in typical tropical regions, except for coastal areas where coconuts can grow well, and it is also a suitable area for the growth of pomegranate chains.
Durian is one of the famous tropical fruits, known as the "King of Fruits". It is a tall tree in the kapok family and durian genus, reaching a height of up to 25 meters. Due to its strong odor, those who love it praise its fragrance, while those who dislike it complain about its odor. Durian is native to Malaysia, and is widely cultivated in some Southeast Asian countries, with Thailand being the most abundant. There are many varieties of durian that we often eat, such as Golden Pillow Durian, Qingni Durian, Cat Mountain King, and so on. According to the Compendium of Materia Medica, "Pomegranate can be used for medicinal purposes, with a sweet and warm taste and no toxicity. It is mainly used for treating diarrhea and cold air in the heart and abdomen. Durian has a hot nature and can promote blood circulation to dissipate cold, making it the best supplement for those with cold constitution. But one should not eat too much at a time, as its rich nutrition can cause a fire when the intestines and stomach cannot fully absorb it. The Thai Ministry of Health advises the public not to consume more than two cloves of pomegranate a day.
If you accidentally consume excessive amounts of pomegranate sticks, resulting in hot phlegm, difficulty breathing, blushing, and bloating, you should immediately take a few mangosteens to resolve it, as mangosteens are extremely cold and can suppress the heat of pomegranate sticks. Only the Queen of Fruits can surrender to the King of Fruits.
